Lutheran Education Association (LEA) is pleased to provide listservs through each of its networks. These listservs connect members of the respective networks, allowing them to post questions and tap into the collective wisdom of others in their ministry.
All members of LEA are automatically subscribed to the network listserv in which they are members. To enjoy high quality and useful participation, please adopt the following practices when using any of the LEA network listservs:
1.
All messages and replies should be consistent with the mission of LEAlinking, equipping, and affirming educators in Lutheran ministries.
2.
Review and empty your e-mail account regularly.
3.
Use the subject line. Some participants have suggested that the subject line contain a preface that identifies the listserv, e.g., ETnet Recess Procedures.
4.
Forward (FWD) information only if it is
known to be accurate
consistent with the mission statement of LEA
pertinent to your role in ministry
5.
Use the "Reply to All" option on your e-mail software so that the entire list benefits from your response.
6.
Do not discuss third parties, whether they are individuals or organizations. Directly address third parties in private e-mail.
7.
Do not include the original message in your reply.
8.
Set your e-mail program to write in plain text rather than html.
9.
If you find yourself in a disagreement with one person, make your responses to each other in private e-mail.
10.
Be conservative in what you send and liberal in what you receive. Do not send heated messages, called flames even if you are provoked. Do not get involved in "flame wars." Neither post nor respond to incendiary comments.
11.
Consider that a large audience will see your posts. That may include people in organizations for whom you will work or wish to work someday.
12.
Wait overnight to send emotional responses to messages.
13.
Be brief without being overly terse. When replying to a message, include enough original material to be understood but no more.
14.
Never send chain letters.
15.
Pay attention to comments from the listserv moderator(s). Refusal to cooperate and rejection of netiquette standards can result in removal from the listserv.
